Lacrima & Scott

Q: Tell us about your wedding! What was the inspiration behind your day? Did you have a specific theme, style or color palette? Did you incorporate any cultural or religious traditions in any part of your day?

A: We were fortunate to have such a beautiful location and our goal was to enhance the setting by maintaining a classic and timeless look. The color palette included mostly red and white with accents of blue and gold. Our wedding weekend, which started Thursday with dinner at Esperanza’s ocean front restaurant, Cocina del Mar, was focused as much on our friends and family as it was on us. We wanted to make sure they are having the best time and emphasize what guests love the most: great food and drinks. Scott and I chose to have “get-ready bridal/groom parties” instead of bridesmaids and groomsmen so that everyone would feel their most comfortable. Along with my mother, mother in law, sister in law, and three of my closest friends, we started getting ready around 10am with an abundance of make-up tools and mimosas. Scott, his father, and friends, lounged by the pool in the morning prior to getting ready. We wanted a stress-free, laid back feel for everyone.

Q: Let’s talk wedding decor. How did you decorate your space for the ceremony and the reception? Was any part of the decor DIY?

A: The decor was a classic white set-up with different shades of red accents in the centerpieces, ceremony arch, and bouquet. For the floral arrangements, I went for a cascading look and Main Events Cabo captured my vision in the best way possible. The only DIY projects on my side were designing the seating charts and menus on zazzle.com. For the setting, Esperanza and the breathtaking ocean backdrop took care of the rest.

Q: Did you personalize the day in any way (food trucks, guest entertainment etc.)? What were some of your favorite parts of your wedding?

A: Instead of a rehearsal dinner prior to our wedding, we decided to take our guests on a private dinner boat tour on the Tu Enamorado Yacht. Since it was an intimate wedding with our closest friends and family, this gave everyone a chance to connect prior to the wedding. As big cocktail fans ourselves, we wanted to design two signature drinks for our guests. Named after our 3 year old wheaten terrier, Mick, the two cocktails The Mick and The Jagger were a total hit and certainly put everyone in the party mode after the ceremony. One of the most anticipated moment for us came after our first dance when we surprised all our guests with fireworks. Their reaction was priceless! We loved seeing our closest friends and family have the best time, you know it’s going well when the dancing starts during dinner.

Q: Let’s talk fashion. How did you both choose your wedding day look? Describe the looks in detail.

A: We both love the classic style, tailored fit, and accent pieces. I envisioned a simple dress with straight neckline and low open back, a bit of Audrey Hepburn inspiration. The veil is where I wanted to create my “accent piece” so I chose a cathedral length with embroidery. Like every girl, I have a slight shoe obsession, and opted for Christian Louboutin for the ceremony and Roger Vivier for the reception.  Scott wore a Tom Ford Pinned-Collar Double-Cuff Cotton-Poplin Shirt, black striped tie, and white/black pocket square. Burberry/ Ralph Lauren suit, Prada Monk Strap shoes, and Mont Blanc cufflinks. His accent piece was my wedding gift which he received a few hours before going down the aisle, the Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch.

Q: How did you meet? Tell us about the proposal.

A: We met in Boston, May 9th 2015 while out with our friends. We were both at the end of our second year at Boston University, I was studying General Dentistry and he was an Oral Surgery resident. That evening I was on a girls-night-out with two of my closest friends at Towne Restaurant and Bar and he came at the same place with a different group. Since we were all students at BU, different years/residencies, we knew each others friends and decided to all go out and continue the night at a different bar. There is where we started talking, surprised that we hadn’t met until then, and at the end of the night Scott sent me the cutest text message. We have been more and more in love ever since. Scott proposed on my 28th birthday, June 28 2017. It was a complete surprise as he re-created our first date with drinks at Brick and Mortar. As we took a stroll on Commonwealth Ave, where we had our first kiss, he got down one knee and I was completely speechless. Happiest moment until that day! Soon after, we met our friends at Top of the Hub to celebrate.

Q: What was the most anticipated or special moment of your wedding day?

A: The ceremony was certainly the most anticipated and emotional part of our wedding. We could not wait to say our vows in front of our guests. Also keeping the fireworks a secret, made the moment very special. All our guests were overwhelmed with joy and certainly ready to start the dance party.

Q: Do you have any wedding planning or marriage advice that you’d like to share with other couples planning their day?

A: Wedding planning can certainly get stressful because we all want everything to go perfect. Unless you care about a certain tradition, you do not have to include what you don’t like just to please other people. We wanted the day to feel organic, like a big party with our closest family and friends. No stress, no expectations, just a really great time. We did not include bridesmaids/groomsmen and no forced speeches.  Marriage differs from couple to couple, but one aspect we can all agree on is that we all need to be shown love (physical, verbal, and/or emotional) every day. We need to invest time and energy in our significant other to show how much they are cared for and appreciated, regardless if we have been together for 5 months or 50 years. Always see your partner as your best friend, teammate, and the love of your life!
