Katie & Matthew

Q: Let’s start at the beginning. How did you two first meet?

A: We met attending Ohio University in Athens, Ohio through mutual friends. Friends who fell in love!… but are still best friends.

Q: What makes your relationship special? Tell us some things that you both value in your time together. (example: pushing each other to new limits, love to travel, huge comic book fans, foodies, etc.) What makes your relationship unique?

A: One of the  most important, and special, aspects of our relationship is that we are each other’s best friend. We support, challenge, and love each other, and are always having fun in the process. I think I (Katie) speak for both of us in saying we can’t imagine spending a day without the other.

Q: How did you know your partner was the one? When did you first know this in your relationship? (these may often be the same moment, but aren’t always)

A: Matt – I knew Katie was the one shortly after we started dating in May 2015. I knew there was something very special about her when she took care of me when I was sick only a few weeks after seeing each other (despite my grumpiness). As I got to know her, my love for her only got stronger from there.
Katie – I realized Matt was the one our first summer together in 2015. That summer was spent long distance, and will forever be some of my favorite memories. I learned about him, his life, and his family and fell in love with all of it. Matt is simple and kind. I am so lucky he loves me.

Q: Give us all the details about the proposal. How and where did it happen? Was it a surprise? What was the planning process?

A: The engagement was a total surprise! Which, in itself, is surprising, because I (Katie) am hard to surprise. Matt took me to downtown Columbus, for a walk on the Scioto Mile on what seemed the only perfect spring day in Ohio. He proposed, a close family friend captured the moment perfectly, and then our families came out from around the corner. It was PERFECT, but according to him there was tons of planning. We finished the celebration off at a nice dinner on the water with everyone we loved.

Q: We’re all about the bling… Tell us all about that ring!

A: The ring is EVERYTHING. Standard round diamond in a pave setting, diamond jeweled band – shiny, gorgeous, perfect.

Q: Are you excited to start planning your wedding day? Do you have any ideas in mind yet?

A: We can’t wait for our wedding day! It is easy to get caught up in all the details, but at the end of the day we just can’t wait to be married. Husband and wife 🙂 With the help of our families, nearly everything is planned. Going for a warm, rustic feel, with fall vibes and lots of love in the air. We are so ready for October 3, 2020!!!
