You could say we are a pair of the “new age” romances. We actually found each other on Tinder after both deciding to swipe right ;P. Daniel had just got out of a relationship about six months before and I was looking for someone to go backpacking with me because my grandparents said I needed to not go alone. After meeting Daniel, the first time, I was completely NOT interested in him that way, so he was perfect! Daniel, on the other hand, was hooked after I brought up backpacking and hammock camping. After numerous days and a few more times hanging out, we decided to go on an overnight backpacking trip to Lake Utica on August 5th, 2016. That trip changed everything.
We hiked in, stayed on the shore, talked about life, and ate pizza. In the morning we woke up to the most beautiful sunrise either of us had ever seen. Many people do not have that ‘ah-ha’ moment, but we certainly did. That day forward we spent every day together and we have been inseparable since. Daniel and I fell for each other, hard. I slipped and said ‘I love you’ a couple of different times, but Daniel was sweet and let me cover it up with bad lies. He finally said it to me, and I just felt butterflies. Over 3 years later and tons of adventures we are ready for our greatest adventure yet! We knew from the moment that sun rose at Utica our futures were intertwined. What we didn’t know is how much love and craziness we would do and go through to get us to today. Our love for nature, backpacking, adventuring, dogs, and pie have bonded us forever. Daniel’s adventurous, fearless, and spontaneous side completely balanced out my homebody, cautious, and planned side. Daniel says I have a way of allowing him to hope and dream, while he makes sure to remind me to stay grounded. Our love is my favorite and I wouldn’t change it for anything in the world.
